About
Vanessa Schweizer is a postdoctoral fellow in the Advanced Study Program at NCAR. Her research interests include characterizing the human dimensions of global change namely greenhouse gas emissions due to socioeconomic development (i.e., energy demand and land use). She is an alumna of the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was affiliated with the Climate Decision Making Center. At Carnegie Mellon, her research focused on long-term scenarios for energy demand and related greenhouse gas emissions. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College and a BS in Physics from the University of Nevada-Reno, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Previously, Dr. Schweizer was a Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. National Academies. She worked under the Human Dimensions of Global Change Committee with the panel on Public Participation in Environmental Assessment and Decision Making. She also served at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom as an adjunct faculty member and educational advisor for TRiO SSS providing academic support to underserved college students.
